This Middletown, CT attic had several air leaks and was poorly insulated. This was causing uneven temperatures and severe drafts in the rest of the home. The large space had several thermal bridges radiating in harsh exterior temperatures through the exposed walls and floors of the attic, due to its complicated construction. The leaky walls were allowing conditioned air in the house to leave, leading to costly heating and cooling costs. Wanting to and improve the comfort of his home and lower the cost of his fuel and electricity bills, the homeowner did some online research and decided to schedule an appointment with the experts at Dr. Energy Saver of CT.
Home energy specialist Chris Grosso arrived to inspect the home. Chris quickly identified the problems in the attic. He shared his findings with the homeowner, and together, they discussed some possible solutions and found the best fit for the homeowner.
The above photos show the product of work done in October. In this first visit from Dr. Energy Saver of Connecticut, foreman Ken Hartsburg removed all the existing, poorly performing, fiberglass batts insulation and installed closed cell spray foam and a few panels of SilverGlo for additional insulation. The homeowner noticed improved conditions in their home immediately… but our job was not finished.
A month later the homeowner decided to have Dr. Energy Saver of Connecticut return to install 48 inches of blown cellulose with an R-20 catwalk with retention walls so the homeowner could continue storing items in the space. Their work also included densely packing the knee wall area in the above photo with blown cellulose. During this second round of improvements, foreman Johnny Lopez realized the Dr. Energy Saver David Lewis Hatch Cover did not fit the entrance to the attic, so the workers constructed one by hand using SilverGlo to insure a perfectly insulated fit.
When the team was done, the attic had been transformed from a dusty, drafty attic into a well-sealed and insulated area. The homeowner was more than satisfied with the results, excited that this project had provided him with a more energy efficient home, as well as some valuable storage space, all in one. He was glad he called for additional work to be done on his attic.
A homeowner in Rocky Hill, needed insulation in their attic to ensure their home is energy efficient, so they called us. We sent one of our Sales Consultants, Matt Abbassi, out to the home to assess the issues and provide a proposal for new attic insulation.
Soon it would be time for one of our Foremen, Rudy Abel, and his crew to install this project. They removed some of the old existing insulation. Then they blew in our TruSoft cellulose insulation throughout the whole attic. This would ensure that no air seeps out of the attic and temperatures throughout the home are regulated. Now the home will be energy efficient.
A homeowner in Rocky Hill, CT had an attic with existing insulation that was causing their home to be energy inefficient. They made the right decision by calling us at Dr. Energy Saver of CT to solve this problem. After scheduling an appointment, one of our Sales Consultants, Keith Saunders, went to the home to assess the issues and provide a solution to ensure this home would become energy efficient.
The next step would be for one of our Foremen, Jony Fernandez, and his crew to work on this project. They removed most of the existing insulation. Then they installed an insulated catwalk with retention dams to make the space accessible and keep the insulation in specific attic areas. Then they blew in our TruSoft Cellulose insulation throughout the attic. This will instantly act as a thermal barrier to the home, keeping the temperature in the home regulated. No warm air will escape and no cool air will get in. Now this homeowner can relax in their home knowing that they're conserving energy!
When we arrived in this Glastonbury attic, we found that the existing fiberglass insulation wasn’t keeping warm air from escaping the house in the winter. This unnecessarily drove up heating costs for the homeowners. We removed the ineffective blown fiberglass and fiberglass batts so that we could air seal all of the gaps, seams and holes with expanding polyurethane foam. This sealed off the air flow between the attic and the rest of the house in order to keep the heated air where it belongs. Next we built dams and blew in our TruSoft cellulose insulation. Treated with natural borate compounds, blown cellulose insulation won't catch fire and it discourages the presence of insects, rodents and mold. We insulated the walkway with a layer of 4” SilverGlo, topped with flakeboard. After their attic insulation upgrade, these owners were able to stay more comfortable in the cold weather while seeing a decrease in their energy bills!
A homeowner in Wethersfield, CT had existing insulation in their attic that was causing their home to be energy inefficient. They called us at Dr. Energy Saver of CT to make a change. One of our Sales Consultants, Scott Mains, went out to the home to estimate their issues. He informed them that they would need new insulation. One of our Foremen, Jony Fernandez, and his team removed the old insulation and blew in our TruSoft Cellulose insulation. This would act as a thermal barrier for the attic, keeping air in. Now this homeowner will see a difference in their energy bill and the temperature in their home will be regulated properly!
