Before Insulation
These steps provided a convenient entrance directly from outside to the basement. However, without insulation, this hatchway also let cold winter air into the house causing costly drafts and chilly floors on the first floor.
Installing the Door Frame
To stop air from flowing into the home, our team installed a new insulated doorway. The first step in this process was to create a sturdy frame to house the door and insulation.
Installing Insulation
After the frame was constructed, we insulated the area with closed-cell spray foam. The spray foam expands to fill every nook and crevice, stopping air flow and sealing out the cold and wind.
Finished Doorway
The final step in this project was to cover the exposed insulation. The owners of this home experienced immediate improvements in the energy efficiency and comfort of their home, as well as added security from the locking door!
