Old Cellulose Insulation
When the owners of this home previously had insulation installed, they didn't air seal the attic before putting cellulose insulation in. This led to more problems than it fixed; air and moisture were still able to get into the home. We had to remove all the old cellulose before we could insulate the attic properly.
Air Sealant
Before we blew in the cellulose insulation, we had to seal the attic so no air could get in or out. For many air sealing tasks, we recommend two-part foam. The mixture leaves the nozzle in liquid form but expands rapidly to fill and adhere inside cracks and gaps. As it cures, the foam will create a barrier that is both airtight and functional as insulation.
Our Cellulose
What a great way to use old news! Tru-Soft Cellulose insulation gives old newspaper a new life as insulation that helps homeowners be more comfortable while spending less on heating and cooling. Unlike fiberglass insulation, which can't stop air movement, cellulose does a good job of slowing or stopping air leaks that can waste energy and cause cold drafts.
