Air Sealing and Blown Cellulose in Bloomfield, CT
Challenge
This Bloomfield home had uneven temperatures which made the living areas uncomfortable. The lack of insulation in the attic was causing this problem since air was able to travel and escape freely through the attic. Solution
On the day of the appointment, Sales Representative Keith Saunders arrived at the home to evaluate the situation. He went to the source which he knew would be the problem, the attic. He noticed that the lack of insulation and the many cracks and openings in the area were the cause of this uncomfortable home. Keith went over a plan of products that could be installed to fix the problem. He first recommended that the entire area be air sealed, which will seal up all the cracks and openings. Once the attic was completely sealed, TruSoft Blown Cellulose would be the best insulation to be installed. Keith and the homeowner went through each product thoroughly and ultimately committed to the plan. The homeowner was excited to have a comfortable home.
On the day of production, Foreman David Hicks and his crew first removed any existing insulation in the attic. Next, they air sealed the entire attic to prevent air leakage. Not air sealing your attic before adding insulation is the equivalent to leaving a window or door wide open. The heated or cool air is wasted when it travels out the attic which is costing you money! The next step was to install the blown cellulose. The benefit of this insulation is that it has incredible R-value, resists mold and insects, and unlike fiberglass, it does a good job of slowing down air leaks which can cause drafts. Upon completion, the attic was properly insulated which would make the home more comfortable.
The homeowner was pleased with the results, almost immediately noticing a difference in his home for the better. He was thrilled that his home had even temperatures throughout the home and is now at ease that he does not have to worry about paying for a high electric bill.
