Photo Album: Attic Air Sealing and Insulation in Wallingford, CT
This attic used to be insulated with blown fiberglass. However, without proper air sealing, conditioned air from the house would leak into the attic, increasing the home energy bills. To reduce fuel costs and make the home more comfortable, we removed the old insulation and sealed all the gaps with an expanding foam. After that, we blew in TruSoft cellulose insulation, which not only matches or exceeds the R-value of fiberglass, but also slows or stops air leaks which fiberglass cannot do. Our TruSoft cellulose, in combination with air sealing spray foam, offers an affordable and effective way to upgrade attic insulation!
Blown Fiberglass Insulation
Without air sealing, this fiberglass insulation wasn't effective, and we had to remove it. After air sealing, we will replace the fiberglass blown insulation with
cellulose.
Expanding Foam
Spray foam is used to seal even the smallest spaces, gaps, and holes that allow air to escape from the home and through the attic.
Blown Cellulose
Unlike fiberglass, blown cellulose does an excellent job of slowing or stopping air leaks that can waste energy and cause cold drafts. This attic insulation is now upgraded and efficient!
