Photo Album: Moist Fiberglass Insulation in Southport, CT Crawlspace
This Southport homeowner was experiencing moisture and rodent issues in their crawlspace in addition to high heating and cooling costs year round. They called Dr. Energy Saver of Connecticut and one of our Home Energy Specialists, Jeremy Bossio, discovered several insulation shortcomings, plus the solutions. Foreman Rudy Abel did an amazing job removing all the existing fiberglass batts insulation that were failing miserably, installed two TripleSafe Sump Pumps, and air sealed and insulated the rim joist. Now the homeowners have a much more comfortable home and a healthy, dry crawlspace.
Failing Fiberglass Batts Insulation
This home's crawl space was insulated with fiberglass batts which had absorbed moisture throughout the years and were falling and littering the space.
Insufficient Insulation at Rim Joist
Not only did the rim joist in this home have little insulation, but its fiberglass batts were slipping out of their crevices and leaving massive gaps for moist air to enter.
Holes in Ducts
This crawlspace showed evidence of a rodent problem, which is obvious in the hole chewed through this duct.
